About this Policy

The Privacy Act 1988 requires entities bound by the Australian Privacy Principles to have a privacy policy. This privacy policy outlines the personal information handling practices of NDP Economic Development ABN 49 707 192 534.

NDP believes that the responsible use of personal information collected during research is critical to its business objectives and reputation. As part of our commitment to privacy, we have adopted this Privacy Statement.

Collection of your Personal Information

At all times we try to only collect the information we need for the particular function or activity we are carrying out.

The main way we collect personal information about you is when you give it to us, for example, through a survey or interview.

The main topic of research interest is concerning business and the economy. We do not typically collect any sensitive personal information (e.g. your health, racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, association memberships, religious beliefs, or other demographic information).

Anonymity

When conducting a survey, we de-identify individual survey responses and only report aggregate survey results with anonymous quotes. We collect individual information about a person or business only insofar as it helps us to ensure we are getting a representative sample. (i.e., size of business, location and industry type).

We intend to give you as much control as possible over your personal information.

Email Lists

NDP is sometimes engaged to deliver economic development services on behalf of a local council and in accordance the NSW Local Government Act 1993. Under this arrangement we may legally obtain your email address from the Australian Tax Office for the strict purpose of communicating approved information on behalf of the local council (e.g. council business e-newsletters).

Storage, Security and Use of Personal Information

We take steps to protect the security of the personal information we hold from both internal and external threats by:

  • regularly assessing the risk of misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure that information
  • take all reasonable steps to ensure our online systems and processes are adequately protected from cyber-attacks.

We destroy personal information in a secure manner when we no longer need it.

We do not share personal information with third parties except as necessary to carry out our business or as required by law or other legal processes, and we never sell your personal information.

Our surveys and research projects are not designed for or directed at children or people below the age of 16 years. It is our policy never to knowingly collect or maintain information about anyone under the age of 16.
